Will We Still Be Here In A Year & A Day.

15th March 2018

Is it me or is the world getting to be a very uncomfortable place to live today. We have China taking land from others to which it does not have the right to do so and building a huge navy base complete with airstrip and large military presence and despite the "UN" confirming this action to be illegal, they simply show contempt in every aspect. We have Russia who's election results have been confirmed that Putin will win on the grounds that the two who apposed him resulted in one being found shot and killed and the other being locked up on every occasion that he tried to speak to the electorate in order to gain votes. We have Trump who if you believe the media is a complete psychopath to which sadly too many people believe this type of crap but I prefer to look at the statistics and results and so far, my opinion is more behind Trump than the press as he is delivering on his promise to the USA and to that end, I can't fault him. Thus ending my Political rant for good as I promised myself that I would never cover politics in my blog sites and as such, I end it now. I have my views, you have your views and the world has it's views and opinions and we will all agree in some areas and disagree in others. I prefer reality and fantasy and that is why I admire nature and wildlife over humans and as such I always declare that "Peter Hulbert" is at heart a wildlife fan and if I have to discuss life, lets at least make it interesting and to that end I enjoy sharing my life along the way and hope you enjoy the madness and enjoyment with me.

I was on my travels today and stumbled upon this over sized piece of fungus growing from a tree and hanging out to the extent of about 6" or more. It's ironic that this shows that nature has a balance in life and one part of that balance depends upon other parts to make it and if you value life, we should learn to manage our lives in the same format as nature and exist together and tolerate our differences as apposed to showing aggression toward the things that we don't always agree with. If you look at the simplicity of this simple piece of nature and the tree and fungus, it shows that despite everything, they can share the same space in perfect harmony. Maybe we could learn a lesson here. I took this picture just 200 meters away from the site I set out to photograph some weeks ago but due to the weather conditions of severe snow and ice, I was delayed in doing so but never fear as Peter Hulbert is here and when he makes a promise to take some pictures of a location, he will do so no matter what. Today's subject for pictures dates back to my childhood and a Movie that was made back in the 1970s that was filmed in my local area and caused so much interest for the way it captured so many hearts and emotions and that film was known as "Kes" which was about young boy who was growing up in a dis-functioning family and found solace and peace in a Kestrel to which he reared from a chick and trained to fly. For those who enjoy a tearful story, please feel free to watch it as You Tube have kindly made it available to watch subscription free.

For those who remember the early part of the movie where the boy in question discovered a kestrels nest high up in an old barn building, the picture below is that very site and whilst the exact spot for where the nest is not shown (I didn't wan't to have people disturbing the location) I can confirm that the whole barn as shown in the movie is still there and if you do visit, I would ask that you respect the property and people whom live in the area and leave it as you found it and not with pieces missing that turn up in your garden wall one day. I am dedicating these few words to my dear friend who now lives in Australia and is known as Alick to whom I promised I would take these pictures and share with him. I hope to return his gesture to visit the UK by going to Byron Bay and taking in some long lost memories of childhood that sadly are buried in our minds today and will never return sadly. I cannot leave this post without saying that the movie "Kes" is available on Youtube to watch and has many memories for myself and much emotions for others. I hope you enjoy.

20th March 2018

I decided to take a walk on the wild side today and as such ventured onto the moors close to home and yes, it was cold but the wind chill factor made it especially bracing but the upside was that I had the place to myself which was a real bonus, the down side was that as I climbed even further up the hillside and reaching the top of the cliffs, the snow became much deeper and I started to hear what can best be described as heavy breathing and footsteps from behind me and when you know that you are all alone, it is rather creepy. However, whilst I knew my sanity was still intact, I did become rather curious as to what the sound was and where it was coming from, always in the hope that it was not a mass murderer or psychopath stalker from the fog but whilst the cold shiver running up my spine was not created by the cold, I was soon to be surprised when out of the fog and snow appeared the two horned monster and he was just as surprised to see me as I was to see him. Suffice to say we became instant friends and he was quite happy for me to run around searching for fresh grass and feed him, which clearly sets the animals apart from the humans as I was doing the work and he was getting the reward. Below is a "Highland" beast and whilst they do look rather scary, they are in fact one of the more laid back of cattle.  I formally named him George but he didn't show any signs of being impressed.

23rd March 2018

And so we near the end of March and what should be the end of winter but according to the forecast, snow may show it's face again by as early as the middle of my coming week and as such, I have put the speedo's away until April. My week saw me out and about along the quiet the back roads of "God's Own Country" and as we all know, that is "Yorkshire" which as you all know, is my back yard. For those who have never visited Yorkshire, below is a typical cottage from which there are many more like this throughout the country.

To the right, you will see a picture showing not 1, not 2 not even 3 cottages but 4, one of which has been converted into a corner shop. The two in the middle toward the left are tiny by comparison but once again, there are many like this around and it is not uncommon to see such tiny homes in villages or open countryside of which date back many years and some even as much as 400 years in some places. As most people are aware, I was created in Yorkshire from 1 part Yorkshire to 1 part Irish of which I am proud of both and to which many might argue is a recipe for tragedy or mystery, depending upon your point of view.

30th March 2018

We finally reached the end of March and whilst it would nice to say that all is well, it's been a shocking few weeks for celebrities in the UK as they tumbled like flies and we lost so many. For myself, I had a personal favorite who was the wonderful "Sir Ken Dodd" and in the world of Peter Hulbert, this talent will never be repeated in any form. Ken was famous for his "Diddy Men" and his especially long performances to which it was not unusual to be going home at 1-2.00am after one of his performances and I send me very best to both him and his family and Heaven is in for a real treat as the laughter will continue no matter what. We all have our personal favorite and I have not mentioned others as they will be other peoples fave but they are never forgoton as there memory will always live on in our hearts. God Bless You Ken for making so many people happy for so many years. Finally and on rather a somber note, I want to wish you all a Very Happy Easter Holiday no matter which God you follow and I look forward to seeing you all safely back here in just a few short days.

4th April 2018

It's been rather a slow week so far and yet we still make progress despite the lack of speed, I have always looked at slow weeks as a time that if we at least step forward one pace, it's better that two steps forward and one step back as that wastes so much energy in the end. Easter came and went and Winter came and went and returned and went again only to return with a vengeance but now the snow has finally gone and we are reliably informed that by the weekend that it will certainly be much warmer and barbecue weather for those who cook outside for whatever reason.
We in Yorkshire always pride our-self in our ability to moan and groan about the weather, it's never perfect but always too warm too cold, too windy or too wet and when it's just about perfect, we always kill it by saying it's predicted rain for the weekend and this is what separates us for the rest of the world as we enjoy the moan for no apparent reason that is ever worth a mention but to which we get it but then we would....!!!
I'm going to refrain from the topic of politics as it is bad enough without me contributing to the mess already well established. The prospect of a nice warm summer is emphasised by some of the news paper weather providers to which the so called experts poo poo but I have noticed that so far this year, they have been very accurate and to that end, I will not rule it out but will keep an open mind. I am very much looking forward to sharing some truly exciting news with you all but as is always the case, I am waiting for confirmation that I can release this news to you all and I am hopeful that I get the all clear over the coming days or week and can assure you that as and when I am cleared to share this from the powers above, you will be the first to know.

8th April 2018

So, we are sat here on a relatively warm Sunday afternoon and I just had a call from a good friend of mine in German which suggests that the news that I am so eager to share with you all will soon be posted on the blogs and I hope that you are as excited as I am when I post it all. I expect that if all goes ok, the next 7-10 days will give me clearance to share it with you as it should be approved by our compliance department which means that I do not upset them first before tell you all the news.

The above statement covers my world very well and whilst I (Peter Hulbert) like to be a very open and honest type of person, I am learning through experience that not everyone I am associated with follows the same rule of integrity and as such, I will behave and wait to have the compliance approve any official statement before I release it. I think this might be a good time to suggest and cover the aspect of both truth and honesty and the other quality we all respect which is loyalty. We all like to have something to talk about and share with others but when those stories are coming from others, it is often distorted or modified and even changed in translation when it is coming from overseas and as such I wan't to be very clear and honest about our postings and in respect of my many associates, I wan't to be 100% clear about what I post before I make said statement and as I am loyal to the cause, I will be patient just a few more days and hopefully the celebration party will be not too far away and the pain suffered over the last few years will be rewarded and the changes in strategy and direction will be a shock to all and a surprise for others. I always say that some people have muscles and some people have brains, what I don't want to get confused with is a muscly brain and as such I have posted to the right a picture of a charming man who was depicted in the movie Shrek and was in fact a real person who was a giant of a Man.

I always admire someone who enjoys their music and especially when they are 100% committed to the cause but on occasions, there is the exception to that rule and on this occasion and whilst I shared this image with you all, I would say that in my opinion, this is the exception to that rule and for many very obvious reasons. Let's face it, one might say it's a little too camp that these guys both chose to wear matching crash helmet's and it's not always cool to be seen in sunglasses no matter what gig you are going to. However, the use of their own transport has to be admired and the fact that it is clearly a live gig is not to be overlooked, so on balance, I will overlook the lack of cool for the chosen amount of effort gone into the production although I would urge that in future, this guy should shave his ass before going on tour unless he is going to Germany who appear to enjoy that weird kind of thing.

29th April 2018

Has anyone else noticed how quickly April has flown by or am I just getting too old and not noticing that the finish line has moved a lot closer and the adverts on the TV for funerals are something I now pay more attention to. So, May is looming and we are rapidly shooting through 2018 like a high speed train with no passengers to collect along the way.

St George's Day was an event that we used to recognise in England once upon a time but the lefties recently made a suggestion that it is a racist symbol and now if we event say St George in the UK, it's off to the tower to the meeting with the executioner. I say this with a degree of bitterness as apparently we can celebrate St David (patron saint of wales), St Andrew (patron saint of scotland) & St Patrick who is the patron Saint of Ireland but for some reason St George is like signing your own death warrant in England and I hope to understand why one day. The magic words of "Freedom of Speech" is now applauded as it's 100% no longer the case as we are free to say what the media allows and to that end I can guarantee that nothing is allowed any more. A recent high profile case in which a stand up comedian taught his dog to salute as the Nazi used to do to the call of "Adolf Hitler" is something that I personally find humorous but the person in question was found guilty of racism and fined with a £8000 fine. I would simply say that if you find this comedy offensive, better to vote with your feet and walk away but our system now is fixated on punishment, especially for money and this guy was punished severally. It means that you are no longer allowed to say anything offensive by any means and if you are robbed at gun point, it is better to wish them a good day than a swift death. God help us all is all I can say.

9th May 2018

We are almost at the point of one third of May behind us and I sit here listening to Nigel Farage on the radio and today's subject is Iran & Donald Trump who confirmed yesterday that the USA will withdraw and not honor the nuclear agreement that was put in place by his predecessor "Obama" and has in affect driven a wedge between Europe & the USA in regards to this matter. What I do question are the rather worrying comments put out by the press that this could trigger WW3 and whilst I am no politician, I hope this is more a case of over excited press than truth as I am always a follower of peace and not in favor of aggression in any form. That said, it ruffled feathers and banter brings peace, then who am I to argue.
For me and my world, it's been a very exciting week which started with a huge orange ball in the sky to which created several records in the UK as we had a 29% temperature on the Bank Holiday Monday and in my own City it hit 24% which was also a record and I want to state here and now that this is not a complaint but and appeal for more. My personal life goes on and there are some very exciting things happening from my world that I will be sharing with you all very soon and the negative as it appears is looking like it is behind us and the positive just appeared and with a new direction and the platform to go forward almost committed, I'm poised for a very busy second half to the 2018 year, although I am in need of a holiday first and suspect as usual it will involve a trip to Europe and the mountains to spend some time with my friends..........usually, this means an extended time at the bar and a very long and painful headache at the end but they always say, "No Pain, No Gain" and as such, I will forgo and sacrifice myself for the better good. Please keep an eye out on the Peter Hulbert blog's for some very good and exciting news that is still with compliance and as soon as it's fully signed and formalised, I will be given the OK to share with you all.

2nd June 2018

How did June appear so quickly in the world of Peter Hulbert when it was only April just a few weeks ago. Somehow, May just flew by and I appear to have missed it. However, the events that happened in my month of May did not go unnoticed and I was rather distracted by some very serious goings on in my country that I cannot just pass bye without a mention and I of course refer to the situation that happened not too far from me in Leeds that was covered over by the BBC and major media companies but to which shows that social media is a powerful weapon today as it brought to light the arrest, charge and subsequent conviction of "Tommy Robinson" to which all took place in less than 5 hours. I am not going to challenge the decision of the Court in regards to the case or circumstance as I have no credible details relating to the case. However, what I will say is I question the morals of the 5 hours to compile a case and present it to Court, when I know that his Solicitors (Lawyers) are based in London and he was in Leeds, some 200+ miles apart and at best a 4 hour drive on a good day. How can anyone believe this is true justice when you are not granted a fair trial or time to prepare the trial. I will say at this point that the trial to which he went to report on, the witnesses were given 2 years to prepare their case and defense. "Ok, Enough on Politics".

So, my May and what happened to keep me away from my blog and distract my attention so much, well it was quite simple. My daughter was in the process of moving house and at 24 years old and taking on her first mortgage and purchase of her first home, it was a case of all hands on deck to help and I with my back ground of carpentry "albeit over 40 years ago" meant that cupboards, wardrobes, bedside cabinets and mirror hanging was my job and it was very satisfying if not a little tiresome but a real privilege to help my daughter to get a good start in life. The weather records were all broken throughout the month as it was confirmed that we had the hottest May on record and if this is global warming, bring it on. I was also distracted by something that took a huge interest to myself with a major breakthrough in technology by "Bosch" for some light at the end of the tunnel for the diesel engine to which I hope you all read and share this information in which to draw attention to it and provide Bosch with some hope that the public want it and that it is truly worth spending the money to develop it to mass market and re-invigorate some real life back into the diesel market. It is of course and system of reduction of emissions and particulates of up to 90% and with no loss of power or affect on the engine and to that end, it has to be a good thing.
So, out with May and into June and guess what........Yup, the clouds in the back signal a huge summer thunder storm ahead and this was only the 1st of June. Never mind, at least summer is about here and that is good enough for me.It's hard to imagine that it was just 6 weeks ago that we were all outside shoveling snow away from the streets and here we are after the hottest May on record and entering a very warm June too. all I can say is Yipeeee.  Sadly, the downside is that the 21st signals the slippery slide back to winter as it is the longest day and shortest night......!!

10th June 2018

Just a few short words today as I have had a long and tiresome day in the heat and sun but I couldn't pass up on a short update. I spoke with a friend of mine in Ghana today who is making some excellent progress with the positive things in the day and without saying a word, the message is very good and we are very close to the next short step forward. Patience is not just for people who like sitting in hospitals but also for people who will learn that dealing with people is in itself a skill and as many people know, I changed the entrants to the talent competition due to them declaring in all ways but verbal that they possessed no talent that I couldn't replace. Why does everyone sing the same tune of "Let me know when you have money and I will share half"........  Yup.....Duh...!!. Hard work is always rewarded and free loaders are of plenty. I do not need them and do not want them. Life is always a learning curve and what I learned in life is that I spend too much time fining out who not to do business with.

17th June 2018

Well here we are again and we are already a few days into the world cup football of 2018 and the old rule of expect the unexpected is always the one to apply in these events. So many teams start of cautious and slowly but the surprises always appear to come from right out of the blue. I suppose the game that so far has caused the most interest not least of which was because the manager was sacked 2 days before the event started was the Spain & Portugal game that finally ended 3 each with Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick for Portugal. My home grown England start the campaign on Monday and I wish them every success from the very beginning. I heard this evening of something that has already marred the event with an attack on the public by a Taxi driver from an Islamic country who I am sure the media will polish the story and say his foot slipped of the pedal bu when anyone sees the video, it is very clear it was no accident. Enough of politics, I promised myself I would not deal with it on this blog.

I took some time out this week to enjoy the warm sunshine and fresh air provided 100% free at my local country park of which all I can ever say is there is nothing better and the peace and quiet is worth a million dollars any day. This is the entrance to the park and water mill where they still produce stone ground flower from the water mill which is served by producing energy from a large reservoir which powers the water wheel which in turn powers the mill to grind up the corn into flower. It's one of those simple but truly wonderful system that helped to make my country what it is today. If you have never seen a water mill in action, I recommend you search one out and take a visit, it truly is interesting and exciting to see. For me, it forms the beginning and end of my walk as I start at this point and when I end, there is a sweet little cafe there which always has a fresh cup of tea ready for when I return and believe me, I am ready for it after the walk around the lake. It's not my favourite place but it is up there with many others where I enjoy some peace and tranquillity alone to listen to the birds and wind which is pure heaven some days.

22nd June 2018

Today set a milestone and turning point for people in the Northern Hemisphere as the 21st is the longest day and shortest night and from here on in, each day becomes a little shorter and the nights become a little longer. However, let's not be gloomy as it was boiling hot and I took the opportunity to take a walk around one of the many lakes in my part of the world. Today, I was mugged by a gangster goose who's flock were very intimidating and the big fella who's sole intention was to rob me of my bread, showed no emotion as he made it quite clear that all or any bread was his and not mine. Just in case the Police are reading this, here is the photo of the mugger and if you see him, beware and approach with cation as he shows no respect for uniform in any way.
So, if I were to describe this guy who mugged me, it would be to say he was stocky is stature, a little flat footed and wearing extra large industrial sized boots. His skin tone was brown and whatever language he was speaking, it certainly was not English but he had no fear of intimidating me with his loud vocal cords as he deliberately forced his body toward myself and made it quite clear that he and not I was the boss and I was to be very careful how I respond and react to his demands. One false move and I could be attacked at any moment. His face appeared a bright orange colour as if he had been fighting earlier and his nose showed clear signs of being battered before and his jaw line protruded forward and his nose lay flat upon it. He had a weird swagger in the way he walked and clearly identified himself as the leader of what I can only guess was up to 50 others all looking toward him for leadership. Whilst it is not good to say so, I would say that if I see him alone on a dark night with nobody to witness the action, there is a reasonable chance I might retaliate and stick a pole up his asshole and take him home to be spending a few hours in my oven, surrounded by potatoes and stuffing. Although being a nature lover, I suspect that will never happen and he will live to mug another day.

5th July 2018

So, we passed the middle of the year and someone forgot to turn the heat down as it continues upward with day after day or constant heatwave.......that said, "I'm not complaining" as I also remember the deep snow that was not to long ago. I took a trip out this week to my local lake which is just 15 minuets from my door and the heat was unbearable but the peace and quiet was second to none. I took my daughter for breakfast here and we both enjoyed a nice hot sandwich with a cup of hot tea, it's good to be English and only an Englishman would truly appreciate the feeling of a hot cuppa and sandwich at 10.00am with view to die for like these. This particular lake is used as a canoe club for training in the use of kayak and the benefits of this type of boat. The lake is also used for  course fishing as well as walkers and people who simple enjoy wildlife that lives around this lake.

The picture to the left is taken from the cafe are of which is just outside the entrance to the boat loading area and within 100 meters of the golf club which provides both a driving range and a 9 hole course that I am assured is quite a test for even the best of golfers. Once again, the golf club also provides a refreshment area and is a very nice place to spend some time. I am always intrigued by the robots that zip around collecting the balls which is truly fascinating when there are 2-3 of them out there which what appears to be having there own mind and own agenda and nothing but nothing will stand in their way.
